Q. What are the different types of solar PV rooftop system available in the market?

Over the years, people have come up with many innovative uses of Solar technologies. In India, primarily 3 types of system are available:
1. Grid Tied System
This system works only with the electricity grid without batteries. Although, this system has no power back-up but is much cheaper and has no recurring cost. Government backed subsidies reduce the cost further. This system is ideal for cities where there is little to no power cut.
2. Off Grid System
this system works without the electricity grid and has power backup options. This is ideal for cities where there is no connection to the grid.
3. Hybrid System
As the name suggests, it is a combination of Off Grid and Grid Tied system. It works as a Grid Tied system when electricity is available and works as Off Grid in case of power cut. It has batteries to store energy. It is the most expensive of the 3 systems. It is ideal in cities where there are frequent power cuts.

Q. How does a different weather condition impact the output of solar PV system?

Output from Solar PV system is dependent on intensity of light and duration of the day. In rainy and winter seasons, output is slightly lower but still the system works smoothly as sunlight is available most of the time.

Q. What is the periodic maintains required for the system?

Systems are provided with 5 years maintenance. Panels and Inverters have long term warranties in place.

We provide regular checks to ensure that solar panel production is optimal. Cleaning of solar panels to remove dust will ensure a hassle free usage.

Q. Will Solar operate during power cut?

Hybrid and Off Grid systems are designed to work during power cuts. They have batteries to store electricity and provide backup during power cuts.
Grid Tied systems don’t provide back up as it needs reference voltage from grid and they have no batteries to store electricity.

Q. Can I try to make fixes or repair to my solar panel system?

Never attempt to fix or repair your solar rooftop system. Your solar rooftop system contains high voltage electric current and contact can result in burns, sparks and lethal shock.
Do not disconnect wires, open electrical panels, or modify/damage the equipment in any way. Contact Roop Solar Customer Support to perform repairs.

Q. What should I do if my roofs need repair after I have installed solar panel?

If you do need to make repairs on the roof for any reason, your solar panels may need to be removed and reinstalled.

Q. What should I do if my solar panels have become shaded?

Shadow on solar panels can cause loss in production. During Solar design and installation, roop solar ensures there is no shadow on your solar panels.

Q. How do I clean solar panel?

Cleaning your panels of dust will improve your system performance. Rain will help rinse your panels clean. Ordinarily, you can clean the panels with a water hose to remove accumulated dust. You only need to rinse the glass cover of the panels — do not attempt to clean the wiring underneath the panels.
How often you clean the system depends on the season. You may need to clean more often during the summer seasons when there is more dust in the air and fewer rain showers to rinse the panels clean. Q. What happened to my solar production in cloudy days?

Your solar panel generates electricity through light energy form Sun and therefore can still generate electricity on cloudy days, since even diffuse sunlight can activate solar power production. Solar panel output on a cloudy day may be less than on cloudless day but will still often provide a meaningful amount of electricity.
